Central
Okanagan Aggregate Task
Force
The Central Okanagan
Aggregate Task Force
began in the fall of
2009 with Minister of
State for Mining Randy
Hawes appointing
Kelowna-Lake Country MLA
Norm Letnick to lead the
project.
Regional District Chair
Robert Hobson was
enlisted as Co-Chair of
the Task Force, which is
made up of local
government, public
representatives and industry
stakeholders.
A separate technical
advisory committee has been
established to provide
support to the Task
Force.
The overall goal of the
project is to develop a
process that would help
determine acceptable and
safe sources of
aggregate throughout the
Central Okanagan for
decades to come in order
to minimize or reduce
potential conflicts from
sand and gravel
extraction.
Meetings are open to the
public and will be
publicized on the
Regional District
website
Calendar of Events.
Agenda
and reports and
minutes of meetings
will also be available
through the website.
(see links below).
It is anticipated the
Task Force work will be
complete by March 2011.
