Geographic Information Systems
What We Do
The Geographic Information System (GIS) is an all-encompassing computer database
and mapping system for properties in the
Regional District.
This includes data such as size, location,
zoning, streetlights, sewers and other services provided to
a specific property. These services are
used primarily by the departments and other government agencies, but are increasingly
utilized by members of the public and businesses. GIS provides the background information
necessary for long range planning, mapping environmentally sensitive areas and tracking
permits for buildings and subdivisions.
