If you have ever built a house, owned a dog, or started a business, you have probably dealt with staff from Inspections, an integral function offered by the Environmental and Development Services Department.

Inspections is responsible for enforcing the bylaws of the Regional District developed at the request of the public to govern our community. The Inspections staff enforces the bylaws, either on a continual proactive basis, such as dog control, or by request of a resident, such as weed control or smoke control.

The Inspections function is also responsible for the licensing of businesses in the Central Okanagan East and Central Okanagan West Electoral Areas. Business licenses are issued on an annual basis.

The building inspection staff also work to ensure the safety of the public through the application and enforcement of the BC Building Code and local zoning bylaws.
