If you have ever built a house, owned a dog, or started a business, you have probably dealt with the Inspections Department.
The Inspections Department is responsible for enforcing bylaws, the laws of the Regional District developed at the request of the public to govern our community. The Inspections Department enforces its bylaws, either on a continual proactive basis, such as dog control, or by request of a resident, such as weed control.
The Department is also responsible for the licensing of businesses in the Westside and Central Okanagan East (formerly Ellison/Joe Rich) Electoral Areas. The building inspection staff work to ensure the safety of the public through the application and enforcement of the BC Building Code and local zoning bylaws.
Please note: As of March 21, 2007, the Regional District no longer enforces the following bylaws on behalf of the City of Kelowna: Intersection Sightlines, Nuisance Trees and Shrubs and Boulevard Maintenance. If you live within the City of Kelowna, please contact the City of Kelowna Enforcement Office or follow this link to the City Bylaw Services webpage.
