Zoning Bylaw No. 871
(Land Use Regulations for most of the Regional District)

Zoning Bylaw No. 871 consists of a set of maps that divides an area into zones and a text document that sets out land use regulations for each zone. The general purpose of a zoning bylaw is to provide the community with assurance of the type of land uses they can expect to see in a certain area, and with some regulations for managing those uses. Each zone is intended to group generally compatible uses together. Zoning Bylaw No. 871 applies to the Regional District except for incorporated towns and cities (such as Kelowna,  Peachland and Lake Country), First Nation Reserves, and the area covered by the Joe Rich Rural Land Use Bylaw.

The zone that applies to a particular property cannot be changed from one zone to another without a formal rezoning application, public notification, a public hearing and the approval of the Regional Board.
