All dogs living in the Central Okanagan must be licensed and wear their valid permanent license tag. It’s the first principle of responsible dog ownership in our region and a zero-tolerance policy is enforced. (Consolidated Responsible Dog Ownership Bylaw No. 1343)
Your dog license may be your dog’s ticket home in the unfortunate event that it gets away. It’s a form of insurance for your pet. Our dog control staff can quickly and easily help reunite you with your dog, in many cases saving you from having to make a trip to the dog pound.
In addition, license fees contribute to the services provided by Dog Control staff across the Regional District of Central Okanagan.
There is a maximum of three dogs allowed per single family dwelling.
'My Dog Matters' Rewards Program
All dog owners with a valid license receive a 'My Dog Matters' Rewards Program card.
With over 55 participating businesses, this card provides licensed dog owners with discounts which can easily recover the cost of your annual license fee!
Visit www.mydogmatters.ca for more information.
