Free Disposal & Time-Saving Lawn Enhancer - The secret is out of the bag!
What costs the average household many dollars, takes up hours of your time to make it grow, only for you to cut it down and throw it away because it did grow?
Unfortunately, many people spend their time, money and energy watering and fertilizing their lawns to encourage growth, only to mow it down, bag the grass clippings and transport them to a landfill to be thrown away. (Or even worse, throw it behind their fence or in natural parks!)
Significant quantities of water, fertilizer, and labor go into producing those clippings. Its a shame to see it all go to waste when the clippings are thrown away.
So what's the best way to reduce the amount of input (fertilizer, water, time, and energy), eliminate waste and get to the beach or onto the golf course quicker?
The answer is grasscycling.
Grasscycling is the practice of leaving grass clippings on the lawn when you mow.
Grass clippings quickly decompose when left on your lawn, returning the valuable nutrients you put into growing the clippings back into the soil.
Research has shown that Kentucky bluegrass clippings contain between 56-59 per cent of the nitrogen applied as fertilizer.
When you leave these clippings on the grass, a substantial amount of the nitrogen and other nutrients can be re-used by the turf, reducing fertilizer requirements.
As well, leaving clippings on the grass shelters your lawn roots from the glare of the Okanagan sun, reducing water evaporation.
Simply put, grasscycling is good for the environment, your lawn and you!
